Glacier Mountaineer Lodge
Situated at the base of the Golden Eagle Express Gondola and in the center of the resort's alpine village, Glacier Mountaineer Lodge puts you in the heart of, well, everything. Imagine stepping out onto the balcony of your cozy room or spacious condo and looking out over the resort and at the towering mountains just beyond. Or being literal steps away from some of the most popular on-mountain dining options, including Double Black Cafe, Whitetooth Grill, and Peaks Grill (pop in for après and live music!).
As far as the lodging itself, choose from the simplicity of a traditional queen or king hotel room, or the flexibility of condo suites with 1-3 bedrooms. All the suites come equipped with a full kitchen, private balcony, gas fireplace, and in-suite laundry, plus offer direct access to the lodge's amenities. These include a fitness centre, outdoor hot tub, sauna, steam room, and above-ground parking. Heated underground parking is also available for an additional fee.
Palliser Lodge
If ski-in, ski-out access is high on your priority list, there's really no question about where to stay in Golden. Palliser Lodge is nestled in the forest right alongside the slopes, yet is also just steps from the mountain village—and an easy 15-20 minutes to town. After a thrilling day on the mountain, head straight from the slopes into your cozy accommodation!
This option offers the ideal blend of comfort and proximity to the slopes (and in the summer, trails). Choose from upscale one- or two-bedroom condo suites with full kitchens, laundry, electric fireplaces, and, in some cases, private hot tubs on the balcony. Palliser also has some traditional lodge-style hotel rooms with king beds. Lodge amenities at Palliser include a fitness centre, hot tub, and complimentary indoor parking.
Vacation Rental Homes
For those travelling with a larger group, or simply craving a more secluded mountain retreat, the best accommodations on Kicking Horse are the vacation homes. Booking one of these homes means tranquility and privacy without sacrificing convenience or amenities. Tucked high up on the mountain, away from the hustle and bustle of the resort village, these private luxury townhomes and standalone homes are ideal for families or groups seeking a home-away-from-home experience.
Many of these vacation home rentals feature ski-in, ski-out access, and private hot tubs, a winning combination. Get onto the mountain early and without any hassle, then come back to the house to relax and recharge after a day jam-packed with outdoor adventures.
Choose from two townhome communities, The Aspens at Kicking Horse or Whispering Pines Kicking Horse, or the five-bedroom Chickadee Cottage at Kicking Horse.
The Aspens
Best described as a mountain enclave, these townhomes are surrounded by towering trees and peaks. Units are self-serve and fully equipped with gourmet kitchens, fireplaces, private decks with a BBQ grill, laundry, and, in most, hot tubs. They all have a dedicated parking space, and some have a parking garage. The gondola and skiing are a short walk away.
Whispering Pines
Enjoy the best of both worlds, a tucked-away location, and simultaneous ski-in and ski-out access. While each unit has a slightly different floor plan and varies in size, they all have three bedrooms and 2.5 bathrooms. Whispering Pines homes also all have a private hot tub on the deck, gas fireplaces, in-suite laundry, ski storage, and dedicated parking. Units here are privately owned and operate on a self-check-in basis.
Chickadee Cottage
This dreamy 5-bedroom log cabin comfortably accommodates up to 12 guests. It's a mere 100 meters from ski-in access at the resort but is also very private. Your group will enjoy gathering around the wood fireplace and whipping up meals in the gourmet kitchen or on the BBQ. Wrap up your evenings with a relaxing soak in the private hot tub on the deck.
